Last weekend, I got Iced. For those unfamiliar with this new form of street theater, here’s how Icing works: If a bro hands you a Smirnoff Ice, you have to get on one knee and drink the whole thing. But if you happen to have your own Smirnoff Ice, you can block the Icing, and the bro who tried to Ice you has to drink both bottles.

While I was drinking, a police officer showed up and gave me a ticket for public consumption of alcohol. He was like, “You just got fined, bro.” When I successfully blocked the fine with an unpaid parking ticket, I realized I might be onto something big.

I usually go for really low necklines—all the better to lengthen a short torso—but Vivienne Tam has me reaching for this Silk Sequin Butterfly Dress. The color is divine for summer, and the sequin detail at the collar is superb. What I really like about this kind of dress, however, is that I can see it going so well with a nice tailored suit jacket for a more casual office look (if one worked in one of those creative-type workplaces) or even by itself for a great date look. Hair up, of course, is a must.

Still, because not all of us have $179 (down from $420) lying around, Forever 21 has a surprisingly effective option that stops short of being a complete knockoff. Although I wish it came in a color other than black, the F21 version touts some lovely beading around the neckline and hem, and slightly different criss-cross straps in the back (pro: won’t slide down your arms all evening). Now magically turn into teal, and I’m set :3

So, I hesitated to publish this because guys, this is a $165 tote, and it’s not even on sale, but then I realized the infamous LV Neverfull tote is like, a bajillion dollars, so … anyway, this is pretty scarf company Leigh & Luca’s newest foray into bags, and I’m actually really digging this Peacock Flock tote.

The pattern is really classy but also casual enough for daily wear (of course! this is why I never understand things like ‘croc skin shoppers’), the chain strap detailing is fabulous, and I’m liking the removable superfluous little chain strap. But what really moved me, forgive the pun, is the interior. Brilliant lining, and that kind of pocket, from personal experience, is absolutely ideal. I only wish the pockets had maybe been on the other side of the inside, or that they had had more pockets … I love pockets … but clearly a lot of thought went into this, and props.

Today is the day that I finally admit: even though I love wearing silver in real life, there is no arguing with the fact that gold looks so much prettier in photos. Such is the case with this Burberry Gold Etched Paisley Necklace. I love the concept, because the rectangular danglies are very Art Deco, but the paisley pattern makes it much more amenable to pairing with softer, romantic looks. I think I would have preferred it more if it was more of a damask pattern (aside: I loves me some damask), but since it’s heading on spring/summer, why not?

The only possible hurdle, and one that should be expected when you see over-toted brands like Burberry, is the price. I feel like if I tried hard enough I could find something similar in some sordid Chinese alley for approximately 10% of the current price, on top of which the real thing isn’t even made of real gold. It’s made of brass! Somehow, I don’t think the price justifies the product.

Bottom line: if you’re OK with buying this overpriced piece of jewelry for $358 (down from an even more asinine price of $895), then feel free to head over to Gilt.

This comes a month late, but Tommy of Jak & Jil apparently shot Anna Dello Russo’s Milan apartments (one specifically for all her clothing! I die). FUCK YES. The Lake & Stars is starting a more moderately priced sister line in conjunction with Urban Outfitters, named Double in Brass, to be available starting May 10. While I’m a little worried about overall quality, the designs are looking decently solid thus far. I wonder if they will do anything similar to their gorgeous camis?

Something from last week to tide us over in these slow fashion times: Demi Moore in Marchesa Fall 2010. Yes it looks kinda funky from the side, but that open back is as delicious as apple pie. Let it be said here that while I subsequently found out the pattern was paisley, I still think that there is a beautiful Asian influence going on here. The pattern looks like some sort of qipao dragon print and the neckline/shoulders also emulates your standard cheongsam. Note to Vivienne Tam: this is what you should be doing!

I had actually blogged about a piece from the Christopher Kane 2009 RTW collection before (Frieda Pinto’s absolutely gorgeous black number) but I never expected something so Chloe-like to also emerge. This lovely pastel number (generically named “Scalloped Silk Dress”) has me gushing, seriously. You have the avant-garde that is Kane’s modus operandi, and yet an unexpected softness. The layered/different-sized scallops are just parfait, and the color is just the right amount of saturated to last you through any spring season.

Unfortunately, with knowledge comes disappointment. Of course, it’s sold out. What once was discounted 80% (AHH! £3,227.77 to £645.55 [sorry, not avail on the US site]) is now out of my reach forever. Still, il y aura un jour …

Fabulous is a word I would use to describe this Vera Wang Beaded Gold Leaf Bib Necklace. I actually think this looks more like feathers, but no matter; the intricate beading detail is exquisite. Honestly, after wearing this, how could you top this kind of flawless perfection in jewelry? Answer: you can’t. I would love love love to see this paired with a deep dark-colored (navy, perhaps?) V-neck evening gown on the likes of someone like Marion Cotillard.

Sold out, because this kind of finery doesn’t stick around for long at discount prices, for a measly $259 (down from $1,450! I die) over at Rue La La.
